(you're one thing greater than all the things you are together)
from the go-betweens' "spirit"

(pull your dress on & stay real close)

hi there

leggings, my favorite shoes, & mikey's wonderful orange chair

me in my new richarddawkins.net Scarlet A shirt! i love it so much

twitchy-nose mcgee, before showering tonight

ha ha, yeah. i love this so much. when i saw it on etsy, i knew it must be mine :) from the wonderful uglykitty.etsy.com

i like my chalkboard a lot

"i’m not the most connected individual, denny. sometimes words
are all that allow me to feel like i’m a part of the world,
a part of life. if i don’t have words, then i’m alone."
James Spader as Alan Shore on Boston Legal

"a woman who writes feels too much,
those trances and portents!
as if cycles and children and islands
weren't enough; as if mourners and gossips
and vegetables were never enough.
she thinks she can warn the stars.
a writer is essentially a spy.
dear love, i am that girl."
Anne Sexton, from "The Black Art"

"still best friends, still deeply suspicious of
anyone who isn't us, if you know what I mean..."
Stephen Fry on Hugh Laurie

"i have always heard voices in my head saying what
a useless bastard I am,
but the voice is my own"
Stephen Fry

"and now is greater than the whole
of the past, is greater and now she knows that."
R.E.M- "She Just Wants to Be"

"i think it's been very difficult to get away from the fact that as a child
i was brought up to loathe myself"
Tom Baker

"the world and the universe is an extremely beautiful place,
and the more we understand about it the more beautiful does it appear."
Richard Dawkins

"society bends over backward to be accommodating to religious sensibilities but not to other kinds
of sensibilities. if i say something offensive to religious people, i'll be universally censured, including
by many atheists. but if i say something insulting about democrats or republicans or the green party,
one is allowed to get away with that. hiding behind the smoke screen of untouchability is something
religions have been allowed to get away with for too long."
Richard Dawkins

"i am against religion because it teaches us to be satisfied with not understanding the world."
Richard Dawkins

"the meme for blind faith secures its own perpetuation by the simple unconscious expedient of discouraging rational inquiry."
Richard Dawkins

"it is possible that mankind is on the threshold of a golden age;
but, if so, it will be necessary first to slay the dragon that guards the door,
and this dragon is religion."
Bertrand Russell

"you are an intelligent human being. your life is valuable for its own sake. you are not second-class
in the universe, deriving meaning and purpose from some other mind. you are not inherently evil—you
are inherently human, possessing the positive rational potential to help make this a world of morality,
peace and joy. trust yourself."
Dan Barker

"i am patient with stupidity, but not with those who are proud of it."
Edith Sitwell

"isn't it enough to see that a garden is beautiful without having to believe that there are fairies
at the bottom of it too?"
Douglas Adams

"douglas (adams) was such a dear, sweet man.
it breaks my heart that he isn’t here anymore...
he was so good at parties and such a dear man...oh god,
my ideal friend. it breaks my heart that douglas isn’t here
anymore. it really does."
Lalla Ward

"we stand on a precipice, then before a chasm, and as we wait
it becomes higher, wider, deeper, but i am crazy enough to think it doesn't matter
which way we leap because when we leap we will have learned to fly.
is that blasphemy or faith?"
Diane Arbus

"to the person in the bell jar, blank and stopped as a dead baby,
the world itself is a bad dream...
i remembered everything...
maybe forgetfulness, like a kind snow, should numb and cover them.
but they were part of me. they were my landscape."
Sylvia Plath

"sometimes i don't know whether zelda and i are real
or whether we are characters in one of my novels."
F. Scott Fitzgerald
